State of Vermont Directory of Housing Organizations

The Vermont Department of Housing & Community Affairs publishes the "State of Vermont Directory of Housing Organizations" with contact information for federal, state, and local housing organizations and Vermont's Congressional Delegation.

Public housing authority plans and waiting list information

Every local public housing authority submits an annual "PHA Plan" to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The PHA Plan describes the activities completed during past year and outlines organizational goals for the coming year.

As a part of this process, larger public housing authorities must provide additional information that is often helpful to affordable housing advocates. These PHA Plans include documentation about the housing needs of families and individuals within the public housing authority's jurisdiction as well as the number and characteristics of their housing waiting lists. For instance, a public housing authority may have a waiting list for its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program and a separate list for its Public Housing program (if applicable).

Please note that smaller-sized public housing authorities are required only to provide a limited amount of information in their PHA Plans. As a service to the public, HUD posts approved PHA Plans on its website. To view a PHA Plan for a particular public housing authority, visit this special section of HUD's website.
